You can design your own patterns. You could grid them out on graph paper, or there are programs to use: http://www.dfly.com/
You need to decide if you will use copper foil to wrap your cut pieces and then solder, or if you will use lead came. I use copper foil, which you then flux and solder with a soldering gun and spools of solder.
Really, I have found that the most expensive part of working with stained glass is the glass itself. The basic supplies last quite a while.
