China's ceramics exports growth slowed year on year
According to customs statistics, first quarter of 2007, Guangdong exported 610 million U.S. dollars ceramics, compared with 2006 growth of 9.5% over the same period, export growth in 2006 declined 22.6% compared to 13.1 percentage points. Export main features are:
1. General trade exports accounted for more than 90%. First quarter of 2007, Guangdong to general trade export of ceramic products 570 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 9.5%, accounting for the same period the total exports of Guangdong ceramic products 93.3%.
2. Porcelain tableware, ceramic tiles, etc. are the main export products. Among them, 170 million U.S. dollars export porcelain tableware, down 9.3%, accounting for exports of ceramic products in Guangdong over the same period, 28%; other non-glazed ceramic tiles, tiles, blocks and similar articles, 150 million U.S. dollars, up 31.9%, 25.2%; Other glazed ceramic tiles, tiles, blocks and similar articles, 120 million U.S. dollars, up 53.9%, 20.2%. The three together account for the same period exports of ceramic products of Guangdong's total exports 73.4%.
3. The private sector exports account for half of the country. First quarter of 2007, Guangdong private enterprises exported 330 million U.S. dollars ceramics, an increase of 20.6%, accounting for the same period the total exports of Guangdong ceramic products 54%; foreign investment enterprises exported 170 million U.S. dollars ceramics, an increase of 6.1%, accounting for 28%.
4. The main exporting countries (regions) of the European Union, the United States, ASEAN and Hong Kong (region). Exports were 1.1 billion dollars, 080 million U.S. dollars, 0.7 billion dollars and 060 million U.S. dollars, accounting for the same period total exports of Guangdong ceramic products 52.1%.
Guangdong ceramics export industry after years of development, has formed a distinct cluster of production characteristics, with strong export advantage. But with the global economy and intensifying competition, its development is faced with a number of negative factors:
1. The international anti-dumping against constantly. In recent years, China's ceramic products importing countries initiated more anti-dumping proceedings being repeated to check the export of Guangdong ceramic. Following India's anti-dumping duties China polished tiles, ceramic tiles Korea China final ruling and the introduction of anti-dumping anti-dumping tax, Pakistan has carried out building ceramics in China anti-dumping investigation. Meanwhile, the European Union, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Malaysia, Iran and other countries (regions) to implement mandatory product certification, testing and pre-shipment of radioactive and other technical barriers have become increasingly harsh.
2. Industry access threshold is too low, competition overheating. Ceramic Industry serious overlapping, generally small scale of production, the overall technological level is low, the core competitiveness is not strong. 3. Export the lack of branding. Due to lack of known brands, especially the lack of international brands, most of the products rely on low cost market access to foreign medium and low, even if quality can only rely on high-end foreign brands to enter the international market.
