Is this old military sweetheart purse worth anything?

I came across a neat old purse looking satchel at an estate sale yesterday and scooped it up. It is handpainted on the outside with the word "sweetheart" and a rose on it. On the inside is has a large american flag and a "sweetheart poem". The bottom has "Fort Gordon, GA" on it. It looks very old but I can't find any information on a piece like this. Any help or suggestions?

Well, it might very well be. From all the collector's shows I've seen though there really is a large number of items that are worth less than the value you'd get for keeping it around and sharing the history of it. While most people hope their items are worth thousands of dollars, in reality most neat looking old things are worth only a couple hundred. It's all about supply and demand, and finding the right places to sell them where people know about the item.

Don't stop seeking the history of it, as I am sure there is a name of a manufacturer or initials form whomever made it somewhere hidden in there. Maybe take a picture and ask online if anyone knows about it. Maybe write Fort Gordon, GA and ask if they know anything about it. Might be a souvenir or something. But don't stop seeking out the answers if you really want to know, and don't expect it to be anything too valuable until you do know.
