When bacteria from food and drink particles left on the teeth create an acid that breaks down natural enamel, white porcelain fillings are an effective solution that prevents cavities from increasing in size and damaging the remaining tooth structure.
For more than a century, metal fillings were the standard procedure for repairing cavities caused by tooth decay. Since their inception, metal fillings have hardly changed at all, and have been a recent cause for concern due to the amount of mercury contained in them.
Porcelain is a very natural appearing material because it is translucent and reflects light much the same way natural teeth do. The color of porcelain is very close to that of natural teeth, it is stain resistant and the material can be shaded to blend in with the adjacent teeth color.
Advantages of White Porcelain Fillings
