Designing and Printing a Business Card that speaks for itself
How many times have you heard that your business cards should reflect your personality or the identity of your business? If you haven't heard that when you got your business card designed and printed or if you are a first timer looking for some business cards printing ideas, this article will talk about some business card printing and design ideas that will help you create a business card that speaks for itself.
First and foremost a business card should contain sufficient information about who you are what you do and all the direct contact details for you or your business.
As an example and just like it happened with emails, many people are now including their twitter profile name on their cards, so if your company also has a Twitter account it is a good idea to include it too, so prospective customers that can't reach you could contact your company directly via Twitter. If you do include your companies and your personal Twitter make sure both accounts are monitored frequently, there is nothing worse than leaving a customer without an answer.
Also make sure you include all your expertise and services offered by you or your company. Keep it short and succinct as well, a line or two should do the trick here and don't forget to include your company logo.
Now that you gathered all the information you want to add to your business card it is time to think of the design. Again I will stress that the appearance of a card should reflect the identity of a given person or a business. For instance, dentists and doctors cards should always use white as the predominant colour. Attorneys, Professors and other professional alike should opt for more mild tones. Promoters, marketers and artists I would suggest brighter and more eye catching tones.

Die Cut Business Card

Foil Block Business Card
Foil blocking is another example of business card printing with a high quality printing finish. Foil blocked business cards are the ultimate choice for creating business cards with decorative appeal.
Embossed Business Card
Thermography creates a raised print effect and can add texture to a business card by keeping it clean, simple and understatedly stylish.
Spot UV Business Card
Spot UV is a high-gloss UV varnish applied to a selected area of a printed image. Embossing creates a stunning 3D effect on a business card. Embossing is particularly effective when used in conjunction with other processes i.e. matt lamination and spot UV with the spot UV image embossed out of the lamination (or foil blocking and embossing).
Use Both Side
For me there is nothing worse than getting a business cards that only one side was used. What a waste of space don't you think? So make sure you use both sides of the paper when design and printing your card.

Using the design and printing techniques afore mentioned you can create innovative business cards but if you think that isn't enough, head to Google or your preferred search engine and do a search for "innovative business cards ideas" or "unique business cards ideas" and the search engines will return thousands of results, refine your search to just images and you will get some great ideas to print out and take with you to your local printer.

does anyone know how to fix block print ink onto fabric? What fabrics work best with it?
If you buy the proper fabric printing ink then you will probably only have to iron to fix the ink. I think Speedball or Jacquard both make inks/paints for hobbyists. If you've never done it before, then I agree that cotton is best.
